finished products: chalkboards & curtains!

...projects have been filling my day. (as well as a bit of much needed blog revamping.) you know that creative feeling that hits with no warning and you just have to go with it?  well there hasn't been a better time for it, and it's been hitting me ever so frequent. Here are a few projects i had started back in december and finally finished them yesterday!

 

i found an old paned window in the ally behind my house. i sanded it down, caulked it, painted the frame and then painted the actual glass with chalkboard paint.  It fits nicely on the wall in the foyer beside the stairway.  i hope it gets filled up with some encouraging and creative notes, as well as pictures to and from the gals that live with me.

 

with the help of my wonderful boyfriend, i also finished the curtains for my bedroom!  i saved some fabric i bought in Africa and paired it with a brown bed sheet and here is the final product.  i realized my impatience needs to be stretched, as the measurements aren't the most accurate.  i'm learning it's very important and needed in sewing.  i plan to hem the sides and the bottoms as well, and to buy proper curtain rods for both windows, but i just couldn't wait to see what they would look like hanging up.

 

i love how the sun shines through the top part of the curtain.  it's amazing how curtains can really add to a room.  my next project is making curtains for my living room.  but first, more thread needs to be purchased...as i've already finished it all up!  check out this entry on the blog design*sponge.  it's curtain making 101, for those interested (and those not, i encourage to give it a peak.  it's really simple!)
